My name is Mrs Maudlin, and I am Head of School at Bawburgh and the teacher of Hummingbirds, alongside my colleague Miss Taverner. I have been a teacher for many years, having taught throughout KS2, and feel extremely lucky to be doing a job a thoroughly enjoy and feel passionate about. I started my teaching career in 2007, after studying for my degree at Chester University and completing a PGCE at Liverpool Hope University. I thoroughly enjoyed my time up North, however, after growing up in Norfolk, I came back to the area to be closer to my family.
I enjoy teaching all subjects, but I have a passion for teaching English and instilling a love of reading in young people. I believe that exposing all children to high quality literature increases engagement, and the many different teaching approaches I adopt, enables children to gain a deeper understanding of literature in a creative and fun way. I am the subject lead for English in school, which enables me to continue to develop new strategies for teaching and learning within this area of the curriculum.
Outside of school, I am a Mum to my two young children, who keep me very busy! I also try to read as much as I can and enjoy listening to all kinds of music. I love travelling and holidays in the sun with my family. As a special treat, I enjoy going to the theatre and wish I could go more often!
My name is Mrs Bailey. My journey towards teaching has been a winding path but I finally arrived at Bawburgh in 2017. After graduating from Liverpool University, I worked in marketing and business development, getting to travel for work and visiting some amazing places.
I decided to take some time out to travel properly and spent a while in South America. I got the travel bug though and went back home via France to indulge in my hobbies of skiing and snowboarding. I often spent the summers working in different areas of France but always ending up back in the mountains. I eventually came back from France fifteen years later with a love of cheese, wine and a pretty good French accent!
Having run a restaurant with my husband in France, I am still a keen foodie but more likely to be found down at the allotment growing my own fruit and veg rather than spending hours in the kitchen.
My desire to change career and start teaching was one of the reasons we moved back to the UK. Having two young children was a real motivator to move into education and supporting them through primary school has helped me to see school life from a child’s perspective.
I am very happy to be settled in Norfolk which is where I grew up and I am excited to be part of the wonderful team at The Bawburgh School. I can’t pick a favourite subject because I genuinely love all areas of the curriculum but at a push I’d pick English because I love books so much or French because it’s great fun to speak another language.
Within school I am also PE Lead and actively look for new ways to encourage the children in keep fit and active to support physical and mental health.
Our new lunchtime clubs are designed to introduce a range of fun games and play into school to keep children interested in activity.

My name is Mrs Dring and I am the class teacher of Flamingos.
Last year I completed my Initial Teacher Training with SCITT and I was lucky enough to have 2 of my placements here at The Bawburgh School in Reception. This means I am fortunate enough to already be familiar with the school, the routines and all of the wonderful children and staff who make this school such a fantastic place to work!
Before completing my teacher training I worked at a specialist resource base for children with autism and complex needs for 8 years. I also completed my BA Hons Degree in Childhood Studies in my final three years at the SRB. It is through this training, experiences and my career so far that I have developed a real passion for working with children to help them reach their fullest potential.
Outside of school I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I enjoy watching films, reading and long walks along the beach in the summer, followed by a swim in the sea or a game of crazy golf!
Hi! My name is Mr Johnston and I am Jackdaws’ teacher. I have been lucky enough to have taught at The Bawburgh School for nearly a decade. I love the place. The size allows everyone a chance to get to know one another, and more importantly, help each other. The friendly attitude of everyone here makes teaching at Bawburgh a real joy. The setting is also amazing. Many is the time we’ve stopped a lesson to stare at a kestrel, heron or marsh harrier as it flies by.
I am a passionate teacher. There is nothing more satisfying then when working with children, you see that little smile when they finally grasp a problem they have been wrestling with. Further, they have the capacity to surprise you with their thinking and inventiveness and this invariably makes me grin and often think of things in a different light.
At home, I have two children, William and Rosie and am married to Lucy. We live in the South of Norfolk and love the opportunity to go for walks or bike rides. I love my films, cycling, coaching rugby and Lego (hence Benny the spaceman as my avatar!). So, all in all, it’s a rather busy but fun life.
Hello! My name is Miss Strachan and I am the class teacher of Kingfishers. I started my teaching journey a few years ago whilst living in London, teaching dance and PE in a school before moving back home to Norfolk to begin teaching in primary education.
As my class will know, I’m a huge Disney fan and dog lover. At home, I have an adorable little chihuahua called Disney, who loves eating snacks and going out for long walks to bark at other dogs.
I absolutely love my job, and I am so excited to now be a part of the Bawburgh family.
Hello, I am Miss Taverner and I am teaching in Hummingbirds on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I am new to Bawburgh and am excited to get to know the class and wider school community.
Before coming to teach here at Bawburgh I lived and worked in South West London, often teaching Year 6. I love teaching all subjects but PE, English and DT are some of my favourites. Exploring childrens’ books is another aspect of teaching that I really enjoy as I studied creative writing and English for my degree.
Outside of school I live with my partner and daughter in Thorpe St Andrew and continue to renovate our 200 year old cottage; look after our dog and four chickens; and get to know our new life in the country. I like to play netball, run, spend time walking and exploring with my family and friends and go out to eat tasty food.

I work Mondays and Fridays. When I'm not here, I'm at home with my lively toddler playing princesses, jumping in muddy puddles or watching Bing!
I have a Creative Writing Degree and spent 4 years at Art School so spend lots of my free time writing.
My name is Mrs Hawthorn and I joined The Bawburgh School in April 2023 as the Pastoral Support Worker. I work part time and get to spend my days working on the bus which means I also get to do some birdwatching from the top deck!
Before I came to Bawburgh, I spent 25 years working in secondary education and was an Assistant Headteacher at a local high school specialising in all things related to the wellbeing and support of students. I love working at Bawburgh. The staff are warm, friendly and caring and I love seeing the children grow, develop and become more confident.
I am married, have two grown up daughters and spend my free time walking and exploring our beautiful countryside.

My name is Miss Hipperson and I am a HLTA, which gives me the privilege to work with all the classes across our school! I am a qualified primary school teacher and I have previously taught in Key Stage 1.
My teaching journey began at my dance school, where I still enjoy teaching today, and my ambition to teach continued to grow whilst I completed my Childhood Studies degree. I like finding ways to make learning creative and helping children to discover their potential!
Outside of school, I enjoy being creative, usually through dancing or art and spending time outside, especially with animals!
Hello I am Hollie I have been employed by Bawburgh school since 2015. During this time i have had many roles currently i am the Breakfast Club Lead, MSA and an assistant in Kingfishers class. I enjoy my different roles at Bawburgh as this gives me the chance to interact with the children in different ways.
I am also a wife and mum to two children, at home we have a very lively dog called Sonny. I enjoy going out with my family and friends having lots of fun times.
