Hello and Welcome to Jackdaws’ Class
Jackdaws is the Year 3/4 class here at The Bawburgh School with Mr Johnston as the class teacher. He is supported by Teaching Assistant Mrs Tuma who provides classroom and individual intervention support throughout the week.
Here in Jackdaws we follow the Lower Key Stage 2 National curriculum, focusing on both the core subjects of maths, literacy and science and the various foundation subjects that make for a rounded and fulfilling education. As part of the children’s educational journey we nurture and develop a positive approach to learning embracing the joy of not knowing and accepting that errors are a natural process in how we learn. These are taught through six core values: Resilience, Curiosity, Reflection, Collaboration, Resourcefulness and Reflection. Mastering these unleashes exceptional opportunities to thrive in education and the greater world around us.
As part of our approach to education we embrace the opportunities to learn from the wider world. Be it trips to the local river or farms, to visiting Norwich Castle museum or further afield, (The Natural History Museum, The Science Museum or The Space Centre in Leicester to name but three examples), we believe that such experiences really help to deepen our understanding of the world around us whilst establishing school as a fun and pleasurable place for all.
Throughout the year, parents are updated on their children’s days at school via ClassDojo. This is also our preferred medium to update parents on all activities up and coming for Jackdaws. It is also a platform to get in touch with the class and share exciting news about what the children have been up to outside of school. Something we always love to see. This enables children to recognise the links and partnership that is so very important between home and school.
Here’s to another exciting year in the Jackdaws class!
